I haven't heard any numbers though.

No casting info either. To me, that's the big scary. If they cast Richard, Kahlan or Zedd wrong, it'll be a disaster, at least for the book's fans. It might still fly as a series, but a casting mis-step would alienate the hardcore fans.

I hate to say it, but I'm betting on a very whitebread cast, based on Disney's involvement. I don't expect to see any out of the box thinking when it comes to the cast. They'll hire actors based on broad appeal first. While I love Raimi's work, I worry a bit about his tongue in cheek-ness with this story. Sure, WFR has lots of funny moments, but if they Xena-tize it then I won't be able to watch.

My fingers are crossed.Greybishophttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07333805233763138378noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34634444.post-20942774970370097182008-04-13T10:48:00.000-07:002008-04-13T10:48:00.000-07:00I forgot about that! Have you heard how much money they have to produce it?

When is the first show (he says, gasping for breath)?

I did not see the first LOTR show until the second one came out as I wrongfully assumed it was going to be a bust. Maybe I was still hurting after the first animation of the Hobbit came out a few years before.Sawseehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09724464643717064852noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34634444.post-1327574716050898152008-04-12T09:48:00.000-07:002008-04-12T09:48:00.000-07:00We shall see, Sawsee.Wizard's First Rule is being ...We shall see, Sawsee.

Wizard's First Rule is being made. Not a movie. Not even a mini-series. A full 24 episode SEASON. From the single novel (although don't be surprised if elements of the later books show up) which to my knowledge is unprecedented.

Sam Raimi (Xena, Hercules, Evil Dead, Spiderman 1,2,3 - that Sam Raimi) is producing.

We shall see...Greybishophttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07333805233763138378noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34634444.post-43450234769538657982008-04-12T09:13:00.000-07:002008-04-12T09:13:00.000-07:00Hey GB!The SOT series' (I just got the Faith of th...Hey GB!

The SOT series' (I just got the Faith of the Fallen) rich commentary fires up the imagination and easily conjures up vivid visuals.

I believe you mentioned this before, but many books thrive in bookform but become a visual disaster when forced onto the big screen (other than LOTR...Ok, Dune was pretty good).Sawseehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09724464643717064852noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34634444.post-85519675163341807092008-04-11T12:01:00.000-07:002008-04-11T12:01:00.000-07:00This reminds me of the idea in the Sword of Truth ...This reminds me of the idea in the Sword of Truth novels, the People's Palace of D'Hara built as a structural representation of a drawn magic spell.Greybishophttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07333805233763138378noreply@blogger.com
