A fake Mona Lisa, painted in the 18th century has been claimed to be a more accurate colour rendition than Leonardo's original. It appears that the original has faded but the fake which is 'newer', was painted with techniques that were more resistant to fading. Thus interest is gathering amongst the artworld, not commonly moved by 'fakes' to see what da Vinci intended.
