In 1992, when I first registered for an email account, I needed a name to use. I wanted a name that was somewhat reflective of my nature. The step of feeding my head with facts, stories, and travel begins with 'seeing'. To 'see' therefore I 'saw'. Yes, my first email account was 'Seesaw'. Merrily, I used this email identity without realizing this name has a second meaning!
'seesaw-saw/n.,v.,adj., & adv.
1. a device consisting of a long plank balanced on a central support to sit on at each end and move up and down by pushing the ground with their feet
2 an up and down motion
3 to vacillate in policy or alternate'.
I didn't mind being thought of a fun activity on a 'see-saw' but objected to a name that means 'to vacillate'. Sounds rather 'wishy, washy'---not good! A flake! I had to change my name.
Then it hit me; I'll just transpose (Is this boring or what!) the two words: seesaw=sawsee.
Wow! I was happy with myself! (I know, it is a rather sad commentary on life that such a simple thing of switching two words would make me happy! But isn't that the secret of happiness? To allow simple things to bring happiness to oneself and hopefully others?)
So, I rushed my new name into the internet world. Later, I was reminded again about 'other' meanings a word may have. I looked more closely at my moniker: 'Sawsee'. It did not appear as a word in the Oxford Dictionary. Then it struck me!
'Sawsee' sounded like 'Saucy'. I quickly ran to the bookcase and grabbed my Oxford and flipped to the word 'saucy': adj.
1: impudent
2: smart-looking
3: smutty, suggestive
I was horrified and began to rock back and forth. Slowly, I contained my emotions and knew within my heart that I was none of those things! Wait. 'Smart-looking', I guess that was better than being 'not smart looking'. But I regress...
Right. I was saying that I would not change my name again! I would live with 'Sawsee'. Who cares! What, maybe two people will remember my name! I'll be one of those 'outposts' in the middle of 'No-where'. No visitors! No comments! Like Lost or something...
Bu then my wife just came by and said, "You sure have fun with that." And, that's why I have started this blog, registered my name and kept it too! Fun!

Cute story, Sawsee. It's nice to have the freedom and opportunity to ponder such things, isn't it?
Thanks Lady!
Yes, I do like to ponder over things! Sometimes I think too much though....
