And your site is inspiring too. It's like a really cool museum of the uncanny and uncommon.

Thanks JDH! It's great to have feedback and validation that people do like the site.

I am still amazed at the amount of 'stuff' that is available online.

I'm amazed too, and I'm always surprised at how quickly things disappear from the net too.
I often find things from links in newly visited sites and then I forget how I found the end result site and often have a hard time retracing my steps the next day. Especially when I jump from site to site to site and so on.
Wikipedia is like that for me, I'll be reading about one thing and before I'm done I've clicked through half dozen articles. Like a clickable-six-degrees-of-separation.
I love to use google map to find islands by zooming out and spanning across the ocean. There are Spanish Islands about halfway between NY and Ireland. And the Midway atoll north of Hawaii. And the South Pacific.

That's just damn cool.
Actually, I had to watch it twice, 'cuz I was enjoying the music so much I forgot to pay close attention to the animation.
Oh and Sawsee, your little blog is THE most popular "off blog" spot that people are clicking, according to my little mini-poll. You've got about 25% of the votes of those that bother voting. I average about 25-30 "unique" vistors per day, so just from my blog alone you are probably running somewhere between 5 and 10 visitors a day.
I've learned through the addition of a counter that "comments" aren't the best way to guage traffic on a blog. Of late, the number of comments has been down at mine, but the number of hits per day is up by about 20%.
I guess people are shy or just prefer passive surfing to active interacting.

Thanks Greybishop for the feedback! I am amazed that this blog pulled 25% of the vote--that's amazing! Thanks for includung me!
The counter is a great idea. I used to have 'hitbox' on my other site but I believe it was $25/month? I'm sure prices have dropped since then.

I really love it when people leave comments as it helps me see which posts are the most compelling (or not).

Go to bravenet.com
They offer a number of free services, including counters.
That's where I get the vote caster, forum, chat, surveys and counters that I use on my blog.
The free stuff is all ad supported, with pop ups, but they're not too obtrusive and they don't "java bomb" customers with multiple popunders etc.
