Enjoy oxygen, in a bottle.

When I was a kid, one of my friends' older siblings had a poster in their basement. It was meant as an ironic, facetious statement about our stewardship of the planet.
It was a picture of a front door to a house with three "milk" style bottles in front of it. One labelled "Milk", one "Water" and one "Air". At the time, bottled water was almost unheard of.
While I'm not what you would call an environmentalist, we're doing a lousy job of not fouling our own nests these past few centuries...

David Suzuki was quoted, saying he refuses bottled water and only drinks tap water and feels everyone should protest if we feel it is unsafe to drink from our own taps.

I get upset when I read from Health Canada, that people should only eat Tuna once a month because of the unsafe mercury levels. When orca whales beach themselves and die, the authorities treat the carcass as 'toxic waste'. I am not an alarmist but I am a bit shocked at the state of our earth. I need some oxygen!

I believe I remember seeing that poster too! Yes, who would of thought that 'bottled water' would outsell Colas! I'm sure many Third World countries are shocked that we buy it, rather than subject ourselves to the our chlorinated, florinated, tap water.

I'm still drinking out of my tap. I have a Britta, but that's just my concession to the slightly "skunky" smell that hits in mid summer. I don't buy every "our environment is dying" story I hear. The earth is a pretty amazing sphere with historically documented cycles of weird weather, toxicity and mass extinctions that we had nothing to do with, and it somehow manages to heal itself each and every time. We're a flea on the back of a very large beast and that beast's life will outstrip our existence.
Still, when manmade stuff messes with the flavour or safety of my drinking water and breathing air, I get annoyed.
Pass the oxygen...

I just used it, but I dislike the term "Manmade". It implys that we made something new. WE didn't. We combine stuff in unnatural processes, but the basic building blocks are ALL natural. I figure that a dozen of so millenium after we're gone, Mamma Earth will shake off our last vestiges and go back to business as usual...

One of the interesting theories that I read stated that 'global warming' will actually trigger a cooling period. As the ice floes and glaciers melt, the white--highly reflective--surfaces are replaced with the oceans which absorb the heat. The warming oceans increase vapour, creating a haze around the earth which blocks the sun, cooling the earth.
In the last century we have released a plethora of toxic materials into our land, oceans and atmosphere with little concern of the consequences.
Yes, the Earth will heal but faster without us...

Is this the stuff that athletes use when they are playing in Denver?

Also, the ad doesn't say how the oxygen is "propelled". Aren't aerosol propellants bad for the ozone layer?

Hi Lady!

I'm sure a lot of athletes like this stuff!

I believe it was flourocarbons which was the ozone-destroying propellant; in food they use nitrous-oxide which I believe is the stuff that kids inhale.
