yea, actually, i think women are bigger pack rats than men. thankfully i am a minimalist, so that's not an issue for me (plus, i've moved a lot in the past 5 years, so in order to minimize schlepping, much gets trashed or donated)!
We have moved often too, and having paid $7500 for the last move, I absolutely refuse to have to pay that much money again. For $7500 we could have re-purchased most of our 'treasure'!
I'm currently painting the last few white walls in the house, in anticipation of visitors...
In doing that, I've moved more than a DOZEN boxes of stuff that I've carted around over the last SIX moves. Most of the stuff will end up at Goodwill as there are clothes I can/will no longer wear in several of them. Even then, I have more than enough to fill the rooms I've painted...
It's funny. I've noticed a definite DOWNWARD trend in my consumerism lately.
Now, that COULD be due to lower income levels since I opened the store, OR (and I really think this more likely) it could be that in finding a "happy place" to exist I've lowered my need for purchasing "stuff" to make me happy.
I haven't set foot inside a Walmart, a mall or big box store (except Staples - business stuff) for AT LEAST 4 months. I feel cleansed.

Neat!
so, is the moral of the story to let all your trash pile up and see if it casts a neat shadow?
seeing how messy some of my bosses' offices are, i just need to get the lighting correct! ;o)
Hi All!
lbean: Maybe this is an illustration of "one man's junk is another man's treasure."
Not sure why the idiom uses 'men' as the example? Don't women collect 'junk' too?

I'm going through a time where I am trying to curtail my consuming. Not easy...
