Pullman's 'His Dark Materials' is now a movie.

The Golden Compass, the first book in Philip Pullman's 'His Dark Materials' trilogy, comes to the big screen this December. I sure hope it doesn't suck as I really enjoyed the books.

I'm not familiar with Pullman's work, but one of the truisms of a writer's world is that even a BAD film will reach more people than a bestselling novel. Hopefully the movie does the book justice, but even if it doesn't, it won't hurt book sales!

Hey GB! The third book has some mind-warping ideas/events. There was a few aspects to the storyline that took me a while to warm up to: talking polar bears. But there are a some real gems, and one of the few books that actually had me sobbing!
