Solar: A cool animation by Ian Wharton & Edward Shires

This takes awhile to load but it is well-crafted animation with an interesting story.

OK, Sawsee, it's been 10 days since your last post. I'm trying not to worry, but.....

Don't worry Lady!

I'm sure he's just beet deep in knees...

....or beet deep in fermented knees, maybe....
;-D

Maybe he got beet up?

Not to worry, mother nature has interfered with Sawsee's blog time. We had a windstorm Nov 12, and our yard took a beeting! we had a few trees down, so he was busy sawing and chopping, plus planting the remaining plants .... still a few to get in the ground.

I told you, he got beet up!

Hi, Canine Ridge! Thanks for checking in. Whew! I'm glad it was just a wind beeting. My mind went to far worse places....

Tell sawsee "hi" and that we miss him and his fun posts. Talk to you all later.

Hi All! Yes, we got 'wind beet'! We had 4 trees and two treetops blow down. The biggest tree was over 50 feet with a diameter of close to 2 feet. One of the treetops broke off at the 40 foot point of the tree. The top was over 2 feet in diameter and about 30 feet long. The top was encrusted with crystalized sap making each block extremely heavy. Once I had all the trees 'bucked up' I had to split each block, with a sledgehammer and wedge, and then wheel the quarter pieces (slightly uphill) to our wood shed. Whhheewww!

Talking about absences; where is JDH?
newbie? Jess? I don't think I've seen them at the hatch for awhile?

Hey Sawsee!

How's the back? After a job like that I'd be laid up and in need of serious couch potato time!

As for JDH, haven't seen him about lately, but Jess has posted in the hatch recently and Newbie just ordered some stuff from my goodies store, so both are fine!

JDH say hello when you get a minute!

Hi GB!

Living here increases one's activity levels!

I am almost 40 pounds lighter than my former city drone. Mind you, a lot of it is the result of different food choices.

e.g. roasted beets (with only a smidge of goat cheese) etc...

Hi, Sawsee! Wow! You have/had some BIG trees. You don't usually see that kind of wind damage to trees unless there was a tornado or a very high category hurricane involved. Do you know what you got hit with? Sounds like nothing hit your house, though. Thank goodness. So, what are you going to do with all of that wood? Firewood or furniture building?

From a wind beeting to Hockey (natural progression, right?), I just looked at the Stars schedule. In SEVEN days, they are playing ALL FIVE of the Atlantic Division teams on the road!!! Plus a game in Columbus on the ninth day. Wow! There are going to be some pretty tired puppies on the bus/plane home.... They beat the NY Rangers this afternoon, so they are off to a good start! Yay!

I checked over at TVgasm. JDH (aka Keoni) hasn't posted over there since 10-12. That IS a little worrisome.... Please check in, JDH.

hi Lady!

The wind was a south easterly, which switched suddenly to a south-westerly (or visa versa). It was rated over 60 mph, but I think it was sudden switching of wind directions that caused the havoc.

We had our power out for a few hours but some locals were without power for 3 days.

The wood will end up being firewood, which is a shame as, if I had a portable mill (ha!), it would have made beautiful lumber.

re: NHL

Some of the schedules for the Western teams are brutal!

re: JDH

It must be at least 3 weeks since we've heard from JDH!

Hey all! I'm here.

Hey, JDH! Thanks for checking in. How are you and the family?

Yes, Sawsee, it IS a shame that beautiful lumber had to end up as firewood (sigh).

Hey JDH!
How's things?

Hi all, everything is fine. Been busy. We found out we are having a healthy baby girl, just one baby. Real sad, but between 2 months and 3 months the twin stopped developing. You just get your mindset adjusted and prepared for twins, and then this happens. But we are soooooo thankful for a healthy baby.

Hi JDH!

Thanks for the update.

Our best wishes go out to you, your wife and your families.

And best wishes to your healthy baby.

Greybishop said...

Hey JDH!
So glad to hear that the pregnancy continues to be a healthy one.

That's a shame about the other fetus, but nature does as nature does. You have a healthy daughter on the way and that's great news!

When's the due date again?

Oh, JDH, I'm so sorry. I know how excited you were about twins, so I understand your disappointment and sadness about losing one of them.

You are focusing on what you still have instead of what you lost, and that's a good thing. It will sustain you. Now you can take that extra love that you had for two and shower it on your new baby girl, your other children and your wife.

I wish all of the best in health and happiness to you and your family. It all will work out as it should. Keep in touch, JDH.
