Maybe we could call it.....hmmm...how about "The Purple Hatch"!

What it be OK if I used part of the basement as a Root cellar?

Hmmmm....I believe beets are purple (kind of) too.

You and your beets (and other roots) would be most welcome, Sawsee! And Canine Ridge, too!

By the way, that beautiful blue sky is FOR REAL. The red dirt puzzles me a little, but I've never been to Roswell, so I'm not sure. It's one of the few parts of the state that I haven't visited....

I'm reasonably certain that you'd never need to cool the place, being that far underground, just light and ventilate and voila!

I love the idea. I have no idea what challenges there might be (water, shopping, finding the entrance...) but I would LOVE it. I'm one of the few people I know who are "curtains closed" more than "curtains open" in that I actually prefer dark places. Living underground would suit me fine!

Plus, I'm sure that there would be dozens of neat ideas for conversions to squash court, swimming pool, bowling alley etc., for all the extra spaces...
