Hey GB! Yes, I find it very difficult too. I guess the brain can't place a label on it and therefore it's much harder to memorize.
Remembering an 'A' or a 'car' is something our brains understand. If we saw our western alphabet, after only had used or seen a crylic (sp?) one, I'm sure we would have difficulty recognizing the difference between a 'b', 'p', 'd' or 'q'. "Mind your p's and q's."

"Memory" is much harder that way, at least for me. My brain finds holding unfamiliar symbols in it to be much like holding sand in a strainer.
