This looks like a handheld extension of midi-software I had on my Mac in the '90s!
I'm sure it's more sophisticated (But maybe not, between the software/hardware that I was using at the time, I'd invested about $5000) but even if it's not, the handheld nature of the device elevates its cool factor significantly.

Hey GB! When ever I think about 'handheld' devices for the future, I think about StarTrek's communicators: Today's cell phones.
The Tenori may be just a over-hauled version of your, very expensive midi.
