OJ287: 18 billion times more massive than our sun!

"Astronomers have weighed the biggest known black hole in the Universe.

The monster celestial object is 18 billion times more massive than our own Sun, says a team from Finland - six times larger than the previous record."

Why am I feeling so small...?

and how does a "hole" have any weight? other than a donut hole, that is. ;o)

....'cuz we ARE small, Sawsee....
:-D

Just goes to prove that nobody is as important as they may think they are....

So true. In all the known universe, there is so much matter that if you divided your own mass by the mass of the universe, the answer is essentially zero.

And yet. In all the known universe, only one Sawsee. If you divide yourself by all the Sawsee's in existence, the answer is ONE.

From one perspective, we are nothing. From the other, everything. It just bakes my noodle.

Consider yourself honoUred, Sawsee. GB doesn't do math for just anybody....
:-D

Oh, I think you are pretty special, too....

"GB doesn't do math for just anybody..."

Ain't that the truth!

something tells me there are a lot of "beaners" out there...

my special-ness factor just went down drastically-LOL('cept to mama bean)!

Nope, LB, you are the only one of you there is! That's what I'm getting at. No matter how big the universe may be, no matter how small that makes each of us in relation to it, we are each perfectly unique. Even if you had an identical twin, they would never be you.

The essential dichotomy of each life is that it is at once profoundly unimportant and the most profoundly important thing in existence.

and papa and mama bean are SO thankful that is the case! ;o)

but thanks for making me feel unique, GB! you're pretty special yourself!

oops! Sorry, Beaner and GB. Didn't mean to imply that you guys aren't special too.
:-(

I guess I didn't follow GB's reasoning through to its logical conclusion. Profound, as usual, GB.

I had a logical conclusion?

These comments filled me with joy, self esteem and admiration (and awe at lostbean's observation ..."how does a hole have any weight..?").

Thanks everyone!

P.S. Unfortunately, there is another 'sawsee' and that's why I had to name this blog 'sawsee2".

There may be another Sawsee, but I'm certain you have him beet...

Thanks Gb!

Well, beets me if I am spending too much time in the dirt rather than reaching for the stars?
